Sit in Meditation

Surround yourself from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head in a cocoon of white light. Leave the top open like the stem of a leaf to it’s source, eternal light/God. Rise into the light 12-18 inches above your head. Silently you may state your prayers, scripture and other favorite words. I always say The Lord’s prayer.

Let Spiritual affirmations come to mind.

When finished, thank Spirit for what you have received. Then write your affirmation in an art journal or a 4x6 inch note card while in a state of meditation. What’s an affirmation? It’s a positive statement and sometimes it’s a new idea you had not made up, but a helpful surprise and solution due to a peaceful meditation. You may also make a quick sketch of an image you received.

Choose your art materials. Continue meditating as you co-create art with Spirit.

You have the written word and now you will express the affirmation in a visual language. This language uses the art elements of color, line, shape, texture and volume and will follow such principles as balance, repetition, center of interest, movement, contrast, variety, harmony, and unity. More than words, you can actively add emotion, feelings, fervor, passion, enthusiasm and moods to your thoughts and words. You can let yourself “get carried away” and tune into your sub-conscious mind (soul body). Once you are aware of that realm, you can create from a union of the conscious and sub-conscious minds as one mind. If desired and safe within divine light protection, you may rise along the bridge of your sub-conscious mind to express your I Am Self, your light body.

 Abstract Art

In the history of art, there are periods of abstract, non-representational art that was understood, respected and well known. “What is it,” asked the viewer, who until then believed art imitates life and represents reality. Colors, shapes, lines and more were there, but only as pure form as the content. It uses the elements and principles of form only in reference to the artist’s energy-in-motion or E-motion. The emotional body is the main driving force, not the mental body. Viewers saw more than realism as also true to life. A new visual reality moved them. It was bold, aggressive, chaotic, compelling, honest, simple or complex.

When you express your affirmations emotionally, you may feel and see how the immediacy of your art connects ideas, words, desires, feelings and mysteries in ways you may not need to understand.

As you proceed, you may not have words for your art, but you may know you have a sense of a true connection with what you are making visually.

This is also known as “process art.” It is the experience of making the artwork that is more important than the final image or visual statement. Your expression can then be known as “abstract art” because you are using emotion and pure form as the content or subject matter.

It is the visual result of your energy-in-motion or E-motion.

Narrative Art

Narrative art could tell the story of your meditation and affirmations in symbols, stick figures, diagrams, simple, realistic images that came to you in meditation and affirmations. More ideas can come to you during drawing and painting.

The Purpose of this Method

The purpose of doing these three spiritual actions of meditation, affirmation and art co-creating together is to tell the truth to yourself, to go deep into your soul which is your sub-conscious mind, a most amazing reservoir of memories and knowledge. Your soul also serves as a bridge to your High Self, your eternal, spiritual I Am Self. In the oneness of your conscious, sub-conscious and High Self consciousness, you can grow, heal, purify yourself, be loved, love others and all life. You’ll be at peace, fulfilled and joyful.

The point is to stay in meditation, to be mindful, and connected within with your art making process. Your mortal perceptions, feelings and thoughts may flow through art experience. You’ll be open to new realizations as you maintain your awareness in this practice. You’ll conclude with a true sense of unity and completion.

I imagine royal blue light entering the top of my head, filling my brain with the power of faith. It flows down in and through my body, over and around me like a waterfall. I use my power of faith to change myself and do what I thought I could not do. With faith I did wonderful things I was inspired to do.

I went through this process many times over many years. As I prayed for God's help, I affirmed my power of faith to be strong and steady within myself. Then I had the faith to understand, to forgive, to love, to eliminate all kinds of negative thoughts, feelings, words and actions. I saw the weakness of old habits that I could now replace with new, healthy practices.

I coordinated my powers of faith and strength with my other ten powers, which are, love and wisdom, will and power, imagination and understanding, order and zeal, life and release. For me, this has worked very well.

First, though, is faith anchored in the cerebrum of the brain. Faith leads the way in all things every day. I give all praise and thanks to Father-Mother God, our Source for life, light and love. That is the end of the basic lesson with all variations that come with the practice.
